Tuesday preview: Fedspeak, Easyjet in focus

(Sharecast News) - The market spotlight on Tuesday will be on speeches from a trio of top officials at the U.S. Federal Reserve. The first to take to the podium will be Chicago Fed chief Austan Golsbee at 1500 GMT.

An hour earlier, S&P is due to publish its Case-Shiller house price index for September.

At 1800 GMT meanwhile the U.S. Treasury will conduct an auction of seven-year debt.

Across the Channel, at 0700 GMT the latest German consumer confidence numbers from consultancy GfK are due out.

Those will be followed at 0900 GMT by the release of the latest euro area money supply growth figures from the European Central Bank covering October.

ECB boss Christine Lagarde is also set to deliver a speech at 1600 GMT.

In the U.K., overnight the British Retail Consortium will publish its shop price index for October.

On the corporate side of things, Easyjet will post its full-year results on Tuesday.

At the time of its fourth quarter update in October, the carrier said that it had moved back into the black for the fiscal year.

Management guided towards profit before tax of between £440-460m, which was a tad below analysts' estimates.

Furthermore, while that still marked a "vast improvement" on a year earlier, it "paled" in comparison to the improvement seen over at rival RyanAir, said Michael Hewson, chief market analyst at CMC Markets UK.

EasyJet also guided towards a record performance for the fourth quarter of its fiscal year with profits before tax seen rising to £650-750m and capacity seen up by 15% year-on-year during the first quarter.
