Tuesday preview: Chinese foreign trade, Persimmon in focus

(Sharecast News) - China and the U.S. will focus investors' attention on Tuesday.

Overnight, the Chinese General Administration of Customs and Trade will publish foreign trade figures for October.

Investors would also be keeping tabs on the Reserve Bank of Australia, which at 0330 GMT is expected to raise its Cash Rate Target by 25 basis points to 4.35%.

Those will be followed by speeches from at least four U.S. Federal Reserve presidents throughout the London trading session, starting with Kansas City Fed boss, Jeffrey Schmid, at 1450 GMT.

Across the Channel meanwhile, at 0700 GMT Germany's Ministry of Finance would publish industrial production data for September and at 1100 GMT Eurostat will publish producer price figures covering the same month.

On the corporate side of things, Persimmon was scheduled to publish its third quarter figures.

At the half-year stage the homebuilder posted large drops in completions, underlying operating margins and profit amid higher pandemic related costs and the drag on demand from higher interest rates.

However, cancellation rates were not yet showing signs of distress, said Michael Hewson at CMC Markets UK, and the builder said it was confident that it would hit its full-year target of selling 9,000 homes.
