Redmayne Bentley, which is preparing to mark its 150
th anniversary in December, is staging a series of events, including an exhibition of historic artefacts from its archive to mark the milestone.
The exhibition was held at the Wagon Hoist Mini Museum, at Wellington Place, Leeds, and heritage walks have also taken place, led by historian Clifford Stead, offering an opportunity to learn about Leeds’ financial past, including the railway boom and early Leeds stockbrokers.
Redmayne Bentley is an investment management, financial planning and stockbroking business, which was founded in Leeds in 1875.
Phil Armitage, Partner at Redmayne Bentley said: “As we celebrate 150 years in business, we are proud of the journey we have been on. It’s a pleasure to give people the opportunity to view some of the items we have in our archive which are not usually on public view.
“John Redmayne started Redmayne & Co as a one-man business in Leeds and today we have over 25 offices nationwide. The strong values of integrity and personal client service that John Redmayne established in 1875 continue to be the foundation of our business today.”
Visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity to view the Rules of the Leeds Stock Exchange, signed by its original members in 1844, and the deed of settlement for the original stock exchange building. There was also an opportunity to see our founder, John Redmayne’s first ledger and his personal strongbox.
