Sound Energy JV completes Morocco screening study

(Sharecast News) - Sound Energy announced the successful completion of a regional screening study in Morocco on Tuesday, that identified multiple high-potential areas for natural hydrogen and helium exploration. The AIM-traded firm said the study was carried out in collaboration with Getech Group, a specialist in geoscience and resource location technologies.

It said the work formed part of a broader exploration collaboration agreement signed between Sound Energy and Getech in October last year, aimed at identifying and ultimately developing natural hydrogen and helium resources in Morocco.

The companies now planned to form a joint venture and secure exclusive exploration and exploitation rights in the target areas, with the next phase expected to involve detailed geophysical surveys and drilling activity.

"The study has yielded several high-potential targets that will now be the focus of our next phase of evaluation to refine a more targeted exploration programme," said the company's vice-president of geoscience, John Argent.

"We see this as a strong validation of our joint approach and a meaningful step forward in our strategy to establish a leading position in the emerging natural hydrogen and helium sector."

The regional study applied Getech's proprietary geological workflows to screen for subsurface conditions favourable for hydrogen and helium accumulation across Morocco.

At 1328 BST, shares in Sound Energy were up 3.7% at 0.7p.
