Eurozone construction output sees tepid growth in March
(Sharecast News) - Construction output in the eurozone inched higher in March, according to data from Eurostat, though the year-on-year rate of change showed the sharpest drop in activity in five months.
Seasonally adjusted production in the construction industry across the single-currency region rose by just 0.1% in March, following a 1.2% slump the month before.
Building construction output was 0.9% higher, civil engineering production jumped 4.1% while specialised construction activities rose by 0.1% - with all three categories improving after registering sharp declines in February.
However, when compared with March 2024, eurozone construction output weakened by 1.1%, worsening from the 0.6% year-on-year contraction in February.
This was the third straight month of annual declines and the steepest fall since October.
