FTSE 250 movers: Qinetiq slumps; Diversified gains on oil price

(Sharecast News) - FTSE 250 (MCX) 19,987.93 -0.04%

Shares in QinetiQ slumped by a fifth on Monday as the UK defence contractor said it would take a £140m impairment charge amid persistently tough market conditions, hitting its UK and US divisions and resulting in further delays to a number of contract awards.

Energean also fell sharply after saying it remains committed to the sale of its portfolio in Egypt, Italy and Croatia to an outfit controlled by Carlyle International Energy Partners.

Marshalls lost ground as the landscaping, building and roofing products group trimmed its dividend after a dip in profits in 2024, but pointed to a recovery in end-markets later this year.

Diversified Energy gained as oil prices rose after US strikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen in response to attacks on commercial shipping in the red sea.
