Week ahead: German elections, US inflation data in focus

(Sharecast News) - All eyes over the coming week will be on the result of the German elections due to be held at the weekend. Too-strong a showing for the far-right AfD may rattle financial markets.

Worth noting, the Prime Minister and his French counterpart are due to travel to the US to meet with President Donald Trump.

Against that backdrop, Friday will bring with it the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge, the price deflator for personal consumption expenditures in January.

Euro area consumer price figures for January are also scheduled for release, on Monday.

So too CPI data for Tokyo on Thursday.

Speeches from multiple top Fed officials throughout the week may also attract a fair bit of attention.
