Ashmore lifts AuM to $54.5bn as Q1 inflows hit $1.1bn
(Sharecast News) - Investment manager Ashmore said on Wednesday that assets under management edged $500m higher to $54.5bn in the first quarter, with $1.1bn of net inflows more than offsetting $600m of negative investment performance.
Inflows were described as broad‑based, split evenly between fixed income and equities, with every investment theme seeing net subscriptions except corporate debt, which was flat. The FTSE 250-listed firm also highlighted a notable drop in gross redemptions, falling to their lowest quarterly level in more than 15 years.
Across asset classes, emerging‑market fixed income indices fell 1% to 4% over the period and EM equities slipped 0.4%, pressured by a late‑September jump in developed‑market bond yields.
Ashmore said the move reflected renewed inflation worries tied to higher oil prices, rate hikes in the US and Europe, concerns over developed‑market debt levels and the financing demands of AI investment. Despite the weaker backdrop, the firm said its active strategies continued to outperform, with the proportion of AuM beating benchmarks unchanged from June.
Within the AuM breakdown, fixed income slipped slightly to $41.7bn, while equities rose to $10.7bn and alternatives nudged up to $2.1bn. Local currency strategies saw modest growth to $17.6bn, helping lift total AuM over the quarter.
As of 0900 BST, Ashmore shares were up 2.39% at 231.20p.
