AstraZeneca sees positive results from lung cancer drug trial

(Sharecast News) - AstraZeneca said on Tuesday that a clinical trial studying its Imfinzi treatment showed positive results in patients with extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). The DeLLphi-305 Phase III trial found that a combination of Imfinzi with Amgen's Imdelltra delivered a statistically significant and highly clinically meaningful improvement in overall survival in patients with ES-SCLC.

The combination also delivered statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in progression-free survival and objective response rate.

AstraZeneca said the trial involved patients whose disease had not progressed following initial treatment with Imfinzi alongside platinum chemotherapy and etoposide.

"Overall, the safety and tolerability profile of Imfinzi plus tarlatamab was consistent with the known safety profiles of the individual treatments, with no new safety signals identified. These data will be presented at a forthcoming medical meeting and shared with global regulatory authorities," the company said.

AstraZeneca shares were down 0.9% at 11,935.64p by 1546 BST.
