Motorpoint lifts full-year profit outlook, shares spark

(Sharecast News) - Motorpoint lifted its full-year profit outlook on Wednesday as the vehicle retailer pointed to stronger-than-expected trading volumes. It said volumes have been supported by its strategic initiatives, including accelerated investment in technology, data and AI, with margin improvements yielding higher profitability per unit.

Motorpoint said supply dynamics remain favourable and a further store has been secured to open in Spring 2027.

The company now expects FY27 pre-tax profit of between £9.8m and £10.8m, "given increased confidence in vehicle supply conditions, the success implementing our technology and AI strategic plans, the momentum in our performance year to date and robust outlook". This is ahead of current market consensus for between £9.1m and £10m and represents annual pre-tax profit growth of 30% to 44%.

The company is due to release a first-half trading update in early October.

At 0820 BST, the shares were up 8.5% at 141p.
