US pre-open: Futures mixed as Nvidia and Salesforce lift tech sentiment

(Sharecast News) - Wall Street futures were mixed ahead of the open on Thursday as traders worked through fresh earnings from the likes of Nvidia and Salesforce. As of 1200 BST, Dow Jones futures were down 0.09%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures had the indices opening 0.43% and 1.06% higher, respectively.

The Dow closed 113.52 points lower on Wednesday, taking a bite out of gains recorded in the previous session.

Nvidia shares climbed more than 4% in early action after the chipmaker beat analyst expectations and guided for strong revenue growth ahead, with Q2 revenues more than doubling year‑on‑year, topping forecasts by the widest margin in two years. The move put Nvidia on track to break its recent pattern of selling off after strong results.

Salesforce was up double-digits in pre-market after delivering Q2 revenues that came in ahead of Wall Street estimates, while identity‑management firm Okta surged on booming demand linked to agentic AI.

Elsewhere in the corporate space, Dollar General and Best Buy were slated to publish their latest quarterly numbers before the open, while Marvell Technology will report after the close.

On the macro front, weekly jobless claims data from the Labor Department will be released at 1330 BST, as will preliminary readings of July's goods trade balance and wholesale inventories, while the Kansas Fed's August manufacturing index will follow at 1600 BST.
