Maersk hikes FY earnings guidance as Q2 profits rise
(Sharecast News) - Danish shipping giant AP Moller‑Maersk lifted its full‑year guidance on Thursday after posting stronger second‑quarter earnings and saying it now had better visibility for the remainder of 2026 despite ongoing disruption from the conflict in the Middle East.
Maersk said it now expects underlying EBITDA of $10.5bn to $12.5bn, up from its prior $8bn to $10bn range, while guidance for underlying EBIT was also raised to $4.5bn to $6.5bn, compared with its previous $2bn to $4bn outlook.
The Copenhagen-based firm said the improved view reflected a solid second‑quarter performance and expectations for around 4% growth in the global container market in FY26.
Second quarter net profits rose to $1.26bn, up from $586m a year earlier, while revenues increased to $15.76bn from $13.13bn. Maersk also said all business segments had delivered double‑digit growth, with its ocean division reporting a 23% rise in revenues to $2bn, supported by firmer freight rates and 4.1% volume growth.
Underlying EBITDA climbed to $2.99bn from $2.30bn, while underlying EBIT increased to $1.56bn from $818m.
Maersk added that commercial measures had helped it offset higher costs related to the onging conflict between the US and Iran.
As of 1000 BST, Maersk shares were up 7.53% at DKK 18,715 each.
