Vestas surges as it lifts FY profit guidance, announces €400m share buyback

(Sharecast News) - Vestas Wind Systems surged on Wednesday as it lifted its full-year profit outlook following a solid second quarter and announced a €400m share buyback. The company said it now expects a profit margin of 7% to 9% for the full year, up from previous guidance of 6% to 8%. Revenue is still expected to be between €20bn and €22bn and total investments are still seen at around €1.2bn.

The upgrade came as the Danish company said second-quarter earnings before interest and tax rose to €446m from €57m in the same period a year earlier, comfortably beating expectations of €204m. The EBIT margin before special items rose to 9.4% from 1.5% a year earlier, while revenue increased 26% to €4.7bn.

Chief executive Henrik Andersen said: "The improvement was driven by Power Solutions, both Onshore and Offshore, while order intake grew 67% year-on-year to 3.3 GW and Service performed according to plan.

"Based on our performance in the second quarter and visibility towards the end of the year, we raise the 2026 outlook on profitability and return further cash to shareholders through a new share buyback of €400m that will run until the end of the calendar year.

"Demand for wind energy solutions remains strong due to the growing need for secure, affordable and sustainable energy, and we want to thank our customers, partners and colleagues for their continued engagement and support."

At 1020 BST, the shares were up 17% at DKK207.40.
