Intertek acquires German drone-based inspection solutions firm

(Sharecast News) - Quality assurance firm Intertek announced on Tuesday that it had acquired high-speed TEK-powered inspection and diagnostic solutions provider Aerial PV Inspection for an undisclosed sum. Intertek said rapid global growth in solar photovoltaic capacity was driving increased demand from large‑scale developers for fast, high‑quality assurance solutions that can help eliminate defects across projects, and stated AePVI was well placed to benefit from this trend.

The FTSE 100-listed firm said AePVI's technology provides high‑precision assessments that identify defects arising from shipping, weather and other issues during manufacturing, installation and operation, helping to improve asset performance, reliability and long‑term energy output.

Intertek added that the acquisition of AePVI, based in Aachen, Germany, was "highly complementary" to its existing CEA solar assurance offering, broadening its factory‑to‑field capabilities through enhanced high‑speed drone data capture, analysis and comparison across the full asset lifecycle.

Chief executive André Lacroix said: "Solar is a vital pillar of the global energy transition, and demand for fast-paced Risk‑based Quality Assurance is intensifying. We welcome the AePVI team and look forward to seizing the exciting growth opportunities that come from combining Intertek's industry-leading portfolio of ATIC solutions and global network with AePVI's advanced technologies."
