Derwent receives planning approval for Brixton hotel

(Sharecast News) - Real estate group Derwent has received a resolution to grant planning permission for a hotel development at Blue Star House in London's Brixton. The 341-room hotel will be located opposite the O2 Academy Brixton in an existing eleven-storey building, and has a total net lettable area of 86,100 sq ft, a 60% uplift from the current floorspace.

The development also includes ground floor office/commercial space and public realm improvements.

Building works are expected to start in mid-2027 with completion scheduled for late 2029.

"Securing unanimous approval for this hotel-led conversion in Brixton is an important milestone on our journey to maximise value at Blue Star House," said Derwent chief executive Paul Williams.

The scheme is well-located in the heart of the community and will support further local regeneration."
