MP Evans' Sumatra operations hit by severe flooding, but impact minimal

(Sharecast News) - London-listed Indonesian palm oil producer MP Evans has said it expects normal operations to resume in the "coming weeks" after a severe cyclone on the island of Sumatra led to significant flooding. The flooding has affected MP Evans' Simpang Kiri estate in Aceh, temporarily disrupting operations, the company said, while its estate in North Sumatra was unaffected.

"The flood waters have now subsided, and normal operations will be resumed in the coming weeks. The flooding will not have a material impact on the group's crop and production for the year," the firm said.

All of MP Evans' workers were said to be safe, and the company is providing support to those affected in the local communities.

The stock was down 1.2% at 1,260p by 1351 GMT.
