Wednesday preview: Marks & Spencer, Trainline in focus

(Sharecast News) - First-half results are due from Marks & Spencer, along with half-year results from Trainline, third-quarter numbers from Metro Bank and trading updates from housebuilder Barratt Redrow, JD Wetherspoon, Lancashire Holdings and TP Icap. As far as Trainline is concerned, UBS said the group already reported growth in net ticket sales, revenues, updated full-year EBITDA guidance, and launched a new buyback programme in an earlier trading update.

"We therefore expect the market's focus to be primarily on recent trading and expectations for the rest of the year," the bank said.

"We also expect the market to play close attention to any commentary around the developments surrounding the government's railway nationalization and planned launch of a new ticketing platform."

As for M&S, Bloomberg consensus is for interim adjusted pre-tax profit of £111.4m, revenue of £6.5bn and adjusted sales of £6.53bn.

In the US, Qualcomm is slated to report quarterly earnings, along with DoorDash and Liberty Broadband.

In Europe, meanwhile, results from jewellery brand Pandora and Vestas Wind Systems will be among the highlights.
