IP Group wins mandate for Scottish Widows LTAF venture‑growth strategy

(Sharecast News) - Venture capital firm IP Group said on Monday it has been appointed by Aberdeen Investments to manage a UK venture‑growth portfolio within the CG Scottish Widows Growth LTAF, one of the first workplace‑pension vehicles to channel members' savings into high‑growth British science and technology companies. Scottish Widows, Aberdeen Investments and IP Group said the mandate would launch with new investments in strategically important areas for the UK, including quantum computing, advanced battery technology and AI‑enabled healthcare. The LTAF was designed to connect long‑term pension capital with innovative UK businesses and expand access to private‑markets exposure for workplace savers.

IP Group said the model could be scaled over time to increase the flow of institutional capital into high‑growth companies, addressing what it described as a critical constraint on the UK innovation economy - the lack of meaningful follow‑on funding for firms ready to commercialise and expand.

Initial investments were expected to include Oxford Quantum Circuits, Quantum Motion, Nyobolt and Genomics Limited, spanning quantum hardware, ultra‑fast‑charging batteries and AI‑driven preventative healthcare. IP Group said the portfolio would help category‑defining UK companies move from scientific leadership to commercial scale.

Scottish Widows and Aberdeen Investments said the partnership aims to support stronger retirement outcomes while backing sectors central to the UK's long‑term competitiveness.

As of 0900 GMT, IP Group shares were up 1.51% at 74.10p.
