FTSE 100 movers: Miners rally, Smith & Nephew slumps again

(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 100 was up 0.3% at 10,781.95 in afternoon trade on Friday. Miners Antofagasta, Anglo American, Glencore and Fresnillo were among the best performers on the index as metals prices rose.

JD Sports Fashion also gained, having tumbled a day earlier after it downgraded full-year guidance.

On the downside, medical device maker Smith & Nephew was under the cosh again, having slumped on Wednesday after announcing that John Rogers was stepping down from his role as chief financial officer on 30 September, to take up an external position in the US.

Rogers had been CFO since April 2024.
