US pre-open: Futures flat ahead of H1's final session, investors watch US-Iran talks
(Sharecast News) - Wall Street futures were little changed ahead of the open on Tuesday following the Dow Jones' fresh record close.
As of 1235 BST, Dow Jones futures were up 0.22%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures had the indices opening 0.26% and 0.35%, respectively.
The Dow closed 306.63 points higher on Monday, more than reversing losses recorded in the previous session.
Major indices looked set to wrap up the first half with another winning session after stocks rallied on Monday thanks to the announcement of a pause in hostilities between the US and Iran.
Trade Nation's David Morrison said: "US stock index futures were a tad firmer across the board this morning, having pulled back from highs hit during the Asian-Pacific session. Investors will now await news from US/Iranian talks due to take place today in Qatar's capital, Doha, at, according to President Trump, Tehran's request. This sounds like progress, given the tit-for-tat hostilities which took place over the weekend. But no doubt investors will be wary of reading too much into post-talk comments, given the fractious nature of the US/Iran relationship."
On the macro front, April's S&P/Case-Shiller home price index will be published at 1400 BST, while June's Chicago PMI was slated for release at 1445 BST, while June consumer confidence figures and May's JOLTS job openings report will follow at 1500 BST.
In the corporate space, Nike, Constellation Brands and Barnes & Noble will all report earnings after the close.
