Eurozone construction picks up at year‑end, annual output still lower

(Sharecast News) - Construction output in the euro area picked up in December, according to Eurostat, rising 0.9% month‑on‑month. Output across the wider EU increased by 1.2% month-on-month.

On an annual basis, construction activity in the single currency bloc fell 0.9%, while production in the EU was unchangedFor 2025 as a whole, output was flat in the euro area and up 0.5% across the EU compared with 2024.

Within the eurozone, civil engineering activity rose 2.3% on the month, while building construction increased 0.9% and specialised construction activities were up 0.6%.

Year‑on‑year, building construction declined 3.3%, whereas civil engineering grew 1.6% and specialised activities edged 0.2% higher.
