Eurostar cancels all trains after Channel Tunnel power outage

(Sharecast News) - Eurostar has cancelled all services on Tuesday and advised all passengers scheduled to travel to postpone their journeys after power issues in the Channel Tunnel. After earlier delays and last-minute cancellations, all services to and from St Pancras International have now been cancelled, the travel operator announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The rail operator earlier warned of "major disruption" after a problem with the overhead power supply in the Channel Tunnel and a subsequent failed Le Shuttle train, which carries cars and freight vehicles between Folkestone and Calais.

As of 1309 GMT, the 0701 passenger train from St Pancras was yet to arrive in Paris.

"Due to a problem with the overhead power supply and a subsequent failed Le Shuttle train the Channel tunnel is currently closed. Unfortunately, this means we have no choice but to suspend all services today until further notice," Eurostar said in a status update.

"Please do not come to the station. We're very sorry for the impact the situation may have on your travel plans."
