Great Portland Estates gets green light for Whittington House works

(Sharecast News) - Great Portland Estates has announced that its refurbishment project at Whittington House in the West End has secured planning permission from Camden Council. Camden Council has resolved to grant permission, subject to completing a legal agreement, for GPE to develop eight floors of office space across the 74,500 sq ft HQ building, along with amenities and a new rooftop terrace and pavilion. Delivery is expected by the first quarter of 2027.

In addition to GPE's recently acquired Gable Building and the Courtyard Building, along with existing holdings at 31/34 Alfred Place, Whittington House forms part of a 220,000 sq ft cluster of Grade A fully managed and HQ space close to Tottenham Court Road station.

"Securing planning permission from Camden Council marks a significant milestone for this project," said GPE's senior development manager, Trevor Phyo.

"We're proud to be breathing new life into this building, recognising its architectural heritage, and transforming it into a standout workplace that reflects the future of office design. This development strengthens our HQ portfolio and reinforces our commitment to delivering exceptional spaces in prime London locations."
