Strip Tinning gets purchase order for Robotaxi component

(Sharecast News) - Strip Tinning said on Monday that it has received a purchase order for its battery system connector used in the Zoox Robotaxi programme, marking a major milestone ahead of the start of serial production scheduled for April 2026. The AIM-traded firm said the order covered the D phase of the project - the final stage before full-scale manufacturing - with parts due for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026.

It said the nomination for the supply of the cell contact system for the Robotaxi battery pack modules was the largest of the company's three major programme awards.

Chief executive Mark Perrins said the deal represented a key step in the company's transformation.

"2025 has been a year of execution on the three major project nominations won during 2024," he said.

"The D phase CCS order is another key milestone in a major project that is transformational for the business.

"Robotaxis are a growth area and we are very proud to be a part of that journey.

"We remain laser focused on delivering the booked business that significantly grows the business and continue to work through the development phases of further exciting projects coming down the line."

The automotive components supplier said trading in 2025 had faced headwinds from US tariffs and supply constraints, but that performance in the third quarter left it on track to meet current market expectations.

Consensus forecasts called for revenue of £8.5m and adjusted EBITDA of minus £0.9m for the year ending 31 December, according to FactSet.

Strip Tinning also confirmed that its 2023 research and development tax credit claim worth £0.27m had been approved and paid by HMRC.

At 1208 BST, shares in Strip Tinning were up 27.83% at 29.4p.
