Tuesday preview: Fedspeak, German factory orders in focus

(Sharecast News) - The market spotlight on Tuesday will be on a spate of Fed speakers who are scheduled to speak throughout the afternoon. In the background, of course, markets will also be keeping close tabs on the news-flow out of Capitol Hill as regards the federal government shutdown and prospects for a resolution - or not.

On home shores, overnight the British Retail Consortium will publish its Like-for-Like Retail Sales survey for the month of September.

Mortgage lender Halifax will release its House Price Index covering that same month at 0700 BST.

Across the Channel, all eyes will be on the latest factory orders data due out in Germany.

The Spanish and German Treasuries will also be holding government debt auctions.

European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde will deliver a speech after the market close in London.
