German investor sentiment unexpectedly improves in September - ZEW

(Sharecast News) - German investor sentiment unexpectedly improved in September, according to a survey released on Tuesday by the ZEW Center for European Economic Research in Mannheim. The ZEW economic sentiment indictor rose to 37.3 from 34.7 in August, coming in above expectations for a reading of 26.3.

However, the index for the current economic situation fell to -76.4 in September from -68.6 the month before.

ZEW President Achim Wambach said: "Financial market experts are cautiously optimistic and the ZEW indicator has stabilised, but the economic situation has worsened.

"There are still considerable risks, as uncertainty about the US tariff policy and Germany's 'autumn of reforms' continues."
