Patrick was educated at Campbell College, Belfast and gained a BA Honours degree in Accounting and Finance from Middlesex Polytechnic in 1987. Upon returning to Northern Ireland, he joined the stockbroking firm of Wm F Coates. Subsequently, Patrick became a Director of Cunningham Coates Stockbrokers, responsible for discretionary management. He then left in 2005 to become a founding director of the Belfast office of Brewin Dolphin. Patrick joined Redmayne Bentley in 2010 to further his career in Private Client stockbroking and to continue to offer his experience in fund management to the local investment community.
Patrick has over 35 years of experience in the investment industry. He continues to provide a personal investment service to a broad range of clients, including many local charities, private clients, pension funds and trusts. He offers Discretionary Investment Management services to his clients as well as providing execution-only facilities to many local solicitors, accountants, and independent financial advisors. Patrick has clients throughout Northern Ireland, Great Britain, the Republic of Ireland, Europe and beyond and maintains a close working relationship with them. He has a good knowledge of various investment markets and different asset classes as well as taxation, including Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax.
As a fully qualified stockbroker and Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, Patrick uses his significant experience to provide a focused and individually tailored investment solution to many different types of client who may be seeking differing objectives.
Patrick enjoys many interests and hobbies, including gardening, travel, and sport, especially rugby union and target rifle shooting. He is active in many local charities including, Cancer Research UK and Girlguiding Ulster. He is married and lives in East Belfast with Patricia.
