The AA's Exec Chairman removed for gross misconduct

The AA has announced that Executive Chairman of the Group, Bob Mackenzie, has been removed for gross misconduct, with immediate effect.

No further details regarding the nature of the misconduct were provided in today's statement.

The Company confirmed that his roles will be filled as follows:

- John Leach has been appointed as Chairman.

- Simon Breakwell has been appointed as Acting Chief Executive.

The AA added:

"As detailed in the annual report, the Board had already begun the process of splitting the combined roles of Executive Chairman as the Company nears the end of the transformation programme. The Nomination Committee will now accelerate this appointment of a Chief Executive."

In addition, Andrew Blowers has been appointed as Senior Independent Director, replacing John Leach in that role.

Martin Clarke continues as the Chief Financial Officer. At 1:49pm: (LON:AA.) AA Plc share price was -27.75p at 216.55p
