BlackRock Frontiers beats index

16 May 2016 13:44

The net asset value of BlackRock Frontiers Investment Trust's US dollar shares fell by 0.1% in the six months to the end of March on a total return basis compared with a fall of 2.2% in the MSCI Frontier Markets Index and a rise of MSCI Emerging Markets Index in the period both on a net return basis.

The NAV of the sterling shares rose by 5.2% on a total return basis. This compares with a 3.1% rise in the MSCI Frontier Markets Index and a +12.1% increase in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index in the period both on a net return basis.

The six months under review have been a challenging period for world equity markets, with exceptional volatility driven by reaction to concerns over weakening economic growth in China, the impact of higher interest rates in the US, and the significance of the ongoing decline in the oil price.

It said: "Against this backdrop, the company's NAV outperformed the MSCI Frontier Markets Index during the period, falling by just 0.1% compared to a drop of 2.2% in the Index, and the share price remained flat, demonstrating clearly the benefits of the diversity available in the Frontier Markets universe."

At 1:44pm: (LON:BRFI) Blackrock Frontiers Investment Trust PLC share price was -1.25p at 109.75p
