Patrick Mahony FCSI, is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, The University of Cambridge and The Queen's University of Belfast where he graduated MBA. He has been a practising stockbroker for over 25 years both in The City of London and Belfast. He is a Chartered Fellow (by examination) of the Chartered Securities Institute and a member of The Personal Finance Society.
Patrick is a past business nominee to The Northern Ireland Civic Forum. He is a lecturer in The Queen's University of Belfast where he teaches a varity of courses on Understanding the stock market, Advanced stock market Theory and Inheritance Tax Planning. He is a frequent contributor to Northern Ireland print and broadcast media on stock market affairs and is a member of The National Union of Journalists (Belfast & District branch).
Patrick services private clients and professional intermediaries (such as solicitors and accountants) primarily in Belfast South, West & North, he specialises in advising private clients on how to best construct their stock market portfolios to maximise the trade off between risk and return. He also gives advice to professional Trustees on their fiduciary responsibilities under The TIA (NI) (2001) and individuals seeking to mitigate Inheritance tax. Patrick lives in South Belfast with his wide Karen, an accountant who works for local charity Belfast Women's Aid. He has two daughters Chloe & Orla both of whom attended Methodist College Belfast and are now studying at Trinity College Dublin and Manchester University.
