Anpario profit up 1% as African Swine Fever keeps lid on growth in China, South East Asia

Animal feed additives distributor Anpario reported a 1% rise in profit as the African Swine Fever epidemic kept a lid on growth in China and South East Asia.

For the six months to 30 June 2019, pre-tax profit rose 1% to £2.3m and revenue slipped to £14.3m from £14.8m.

China and certain territories in South East Asia experienced weak trading during period, where the impact of African Swine Fever put farmers under significant strain, the company said.

But some of the weakness was offset by the 'very strong recovery in our Latin American and Middle East markets and continued progress in the US,' the company added.

The company recommended an interim dividend of 2.5 pence per share, up from 14% on last year. 'Our business development initiatives, backed by the quality and ability of our employees worldwide, give me confidence that we are in line for our full year management expectations,' the company said.

At 8:34am: (LON:ANP) Anpario PLC share price was -6p at 324p
