IAG passenger volumes up 4.4% in August

British Airways owner International Consolidated Airlines flew 4.4% more passengers during the month of August on-year, buoyed by demand for domestic flights.

Passenger volumes in August rose to 11.9m, up from 11.4m in August 2018.

Domestic passenger volumes rose 6.4%, while passengers carried to destinations in mainland Europe grew by a more modest 2.0%.

Passengers carried to Latin America and the Carribbean jumped 26%, while passengers to Asia Pacific rose 14%.

The group's load factor increased by 1.7 percentage points to 88.7%.
