RPC Group to seek shareholder approval for takeover by Berry Global in April

Plastic packaging company RPC Group was expected to seek to shareholder approval concerning its sale to Berry Global at a shareholder meeting in April, Berry Global said in a statement.

This comes after RPC said in early March that it had agreed to a £3.34bn takeover bid from Berry Global International Holdings that trumped a rival offer from Apollo Management.

Berry Global tabled an improved bid of 793p per RPC share, up from a previous bid of 782p on 8 March.

Berry Global said it expected that the acquisition would close early in the third quarter of 2019.

RPC was expected to post the scheme document to RPC shareholders on Tuesday 26 March and hold its shareholder meetings to approve the acquisition on Thursday 18 April.
