RPC accepts £3.34bn takeover bid from Berry Global

Plastic packaging company RPC Group said it had agreed to a £3.34bn takeover bid from Berry Global International Holdings that trumped a rival offer from Apollo Management.

Berry Global had offered 782p per RPC share.

'Following careful consideration, the RPC board concluded that the terms of the Berry offer represent a superior offer for RPC shareholders as compared with the Apollo offer,' the company said.

'Accordingly, the board of RPC confirms that it has withdrawn its recommendation of the Apollo offer and that it intends unanimously to recommend the Berry offer to RPC shareholders.'

At 8:03am: (LON:RPC) RPC Group PLC share price was -9.4p at 786.6p
