Packaging group Mondi sees annual earnings surge

Packaging group Mondi said it expected to post higher annual earnings amid buoyant demand for cardboard containers.

Underlying Ebitda for the year through December was expected to be above the €1.48bn recorded in the previous year, the company said.

Underlying earnings per share, meanwhile, would rise by 25-29% to 186c-to-192c.

Special item net charges were expected to be around €92m, of which €81m were recognised in the first half.
