Block Energy starts drilling at West Rustavi field in Georgia.

Block Energy said that new drilling operations had commenced at the West Rustavi field in Georgia.

The 16a operations was part of an initial two-well horizontal sidetrack drilling programme.

Sidetrack well are drilled from existing wells that had already been previously completed.

The programme was targeting combined gross production of 650 barrels of oil per day from the proven Middle Eocene formation by the end of the first half of 2019. The sidetrack drilling of 16a followed a successful oil test in December, which confirmed the existing well lay in an active hydrocarbon system.
