US house prices increase 3.9pc in December

(Sharecast News) - S&P/Case-Shiller's house price index revealed that US home prices had increased 3.9% year-on-year in December, a slight increase from the previous month's 3.7% growth. The 10-City Composite saw an annual increase of 5.1%, up from 5% in the previous month, while the 20-City Composite posted a year-on-year increase of 4.5%, up from 4.3% in November.

New York reported the highest annual gain among the 20 cities, with a 7.2% increase in December, followed by Chicago and Boston with annual increases of 6.6% and 6.3%, respectively. Tampa posted the lowest return, with prices falling 1.1% in December.
