Fundrazor Nigel’s shave for Candlelighters

It was a case of hair today, gone tomorrow for Redmayne-Bentley’s Nigel Finlay when his smooth new look raised more than £1400 for a Yorkshire children’s charity.

Nigel, a compliance officer at investment management and stockbroking firm, underwent a head and beard shave to raise money for Candlelighters – the Leeds office’s chosen charity for 2017.

The reception of Nine Bond Court in Leeds’ financial district was temporarily transformed into a barber shop with Nigel’s colleague, compliance monitoring assistant manager Sarah Giles, getting out the clippers to remove Nigel’s hair and facial fuzz.

Nigel said: “I want to thank everyone who has supported and sponsored me so far. I want to say a very special thanks to Sarah for her help!

“I had a brilliant response from across the firm, and it helped me to raise money for an amazing charity and a very worthwhile cause.

“My kids loved it, and my two-year old daughter Michaela wanted to have her hair done the same way!”

The money raised will support children being treated for cancer in Yorkshire, as well as their families.

Candlelighters’ work is carried out in various ways, including at the Leeds Children’s Hospital, The Square which is their Family Support Centre, near the hospital. There is also The Candlelighters Bus, which carries this support out into the community.

The charity also funds holidays for families with children being treated for cancer, in addition to family events throughout the year. You can find out more about their work at

Candlelighters corporate fundraiser Brian Curran said: “We are delighted that Redmayne-Bentley are supporting us during 2017 and Nigel’s decision to remove his beard has got them off to a great start in their fundraising efforts.”
