Investment firm puts best foot forward for a good cause

A group of walkers from an investment management and stockbroking firm is limbering up for the Charity Canal Challenge this weekend to help support outstanding healthcare services.

Redmayne Bentley’s Chairman Keith Loudon OBE, Finance Manager Simon Milestone and PR Executive Ruth Peterson are walking along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal to raise money for Leeds Cares, the charity supporting Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. They will be taking a combination of different paths along the journey: the 29-mile route from Skipton, the 14-mile route from Saltaire while Keith will be walking to and from Kirkstall Forge – eight miles in total.

Keith said: “Leeds Cares is Redmayne Bentley’s Leeds office chosen charity for 2019. Their work impacts the lives of thousands of people across the Leeds region and beyond. They perform a vital role in developing new services, providing new equipment and specialist staff and they are helping to fund ground-breaking research which is absolutely essential for the future of our health services.”

The walk is just one of the activities planned for the year ahead. A team of cyclists from Redmayne Bentley is taking part in the Sportive of one of the greatest road cycling races in the world.

Led by Joint Chief Executive David Loudon, the group will take part in the UCI Road World Championships Sportive on 22nd September 2019. Starting off from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, team members will have the chance to cycle three distances within the event: the ‘short’ route of 72km, the medium route of 98km or the 150km long route.

You can find out more about the UCI Road World Championships Sportive and the fundraising for this via the office’s Just Giving page.

Money has already been raised for Leeds Cares via a Bingo Night and a strawberry-themed Summer Fayre, where a bake sale and tombola held in the Bond Court office raised more than £300. Other staff plan to walk Yorkshire’s Three Peaks. Furthermore, as well as the planned physical challenges, a quiz night will test the brains of participants later this month.
