Undergraduate Student Placements

We are looking for three undergraduate sandwich course students based at our Leeds head office. The placement is for a minimum of twelve months starting in July 2019 and is to provide administrative support in several departments and our Share Shop.
Successful candidates will work in a number of departments across operations, stockbroking and investment management in order to gain an overview of the firm and the industry.

Department Roles
Operations – Assisting with the vital day-to-day administration of client accounts, supporting  our front office, and providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients.
Compliance – Gaining an understanding of financial regulation including Compliance Monitoring tasks such as ‘Know your Client’ checking and execution only/Dealing with Advice call monitoring.
Investment Services – Developing a wider understanding of financial markets, writing and producing charts for our Market Update and Equity Insight.   

What are the Opportunities?
All students will be expected to pass the first module of the CISI Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma entitled UK Regulation & Professional Integrity within the first six months of their placement. This exam will be paid for by the firm and will give you a good understanding of the regulations and legislation that underpin  financial markets.
The year you spend with us will provide you with the foundations to make a real mark within the finance industry, particularly private client stockbroking.  If you have a successful year, there is the possibility of you returning to us on a permanent basis.

Requirements
Applicants should be studying for a relevant degree and have experience of working within a team, plus a good knowledge of Microsoft Office. Qualification requirements are 3 A Levels at grade A-C and 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grades A-C or equivalent.

Hours of work: 35 hours a week (between 8.00am and 5.00pm depending on the department)
