Corporate Actions Specialist

Our Corporate Actions Department is seeking an enthusiastic Corporate Actions Specialist to join their team based in our Leeds head office.

Reporting to the Corporate Actions Manager, the role involves acting within and supporting the team with the creation, processing and reconciliation of Corporate Actions within departmental and regulatory rules and timeframes. To cover and assist with the processing and payment of dividends.
Main responsibilities and duties:
  • Interpreting complex documents and extracting relevant information for distribution to internal and external clients within critical deadlines.
  • Providing cover and undertaking cross skilling for the Dividends department.
  • Creating, managing and updating internal spreadsheets to monitor client elections and work in progress.
  • Processing stock and cash distributions accurately and efficiently within set deadlines.
  • Assisting colleagues with daily workloads to ensure that all high priority tasks are completed.
  • Validating other team member’s work, emails and instructions for distribution to registrars, clients and other third parties.
  • Liaising with others as required to ensure all events are processed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Managing and maintaining records of acceptance of an event and provide relevant instructions to an agent to ensure our clients receive the outturn they requested.
  • Carrying out regular and ad hoc reconciliations as required by regulatory standards and departmental requirements.
  • Producing and distributing regular and ad hoc letters/documents/reports/statements to executives and clients in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Dealing with telephone and email queries and providing clients with factual and accurate information within regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting any risks which may be detrimental to clients or to the firm’s reputation, which arise from inadequate procedures, systems or data handling.
  • Providing training and support to colleagues to ensure that tasks are completed correctly.
  • Reviewing, developing and monitoring the training needs of the team and implement plans to develop any weaknesses.
  • Supporting the supervision of staff in the absence of the department manager/co-ordinator.
Desirable skills and experience
  • 3 years of experience within the back office of a stockbroker or similar financial company and experience of Corporate Actions and / or Dividends is desirable.
  • An understanding of the creation and processing of Corporate Actions & Dividends.
  • Awareness of how financial markets operate.
  • A team worker, strong and confident communicator.
  •  Ability to work to tight deadlines, high level of attention to detail.
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office knowledge focusing on Outlook, Word and Excel, particularly mail merges and VLOOKUPs. 

3 A Level grade A-C and 5 GCSE’s grade A-C including Maths and English or equivalent.
IOC or IAQ in Asset Servicing is desirable or be willing to work towards achieving this qualification.
