Trainee Investment Manager

A vacancy has arisen in our London office for a Trainee Investment Manager on a 12 month fixed-term contract, with the scope to progress into a full-time role. 
This is a perfect entry-level position for someone wanting to take their first step into a career within financial services and an excellent opportunity to gain significant experience within a leading independent Investment Management firm.
The position would also suit a student looking for a year in industry as part of their sandwich course.
The successful candidate will assist the Investment Manager in finalising the transfer in of his client base and the implementation of an upgrade project which is envisaged to be completed by June 2019.

Main responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the investment manager in managing clients’ portfolios in line with agreed investment mandates and risk appetites
  • Assisting in portfolio construction, analysis, and rebalancing
  • Drafting of trade suitability reports and semi-annual reviews
  • On-boarding of new clients and the upgrading of existing accounts
  • Preparation of trade schemes
  • Monitoring of clients’ CGT positions and ISA allowances
  • Daily interaction with clients (phone and face-to-face), internal departments, as well as external contacts such as solicitors, SIPP providers, and registrars
  • Preparing letters for corporate actions
  • Complying with FCA requirements and all other relevant standards, policies and procedures at all times
  • Study towards the CISI Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma, an RDR compliant qualification

Applicants should possess:
  • An interest in equity markets
  • The ability to comprehend complex quantitative and qualitative information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Highly organised with strong time management
  • An intermediate level of Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Educated to A level or equivalent (including GCSE’s grade A*-B in English Language and Maths)
  • Demonstrable example/s of high achievement; either through sport or in another extra-curricular capacity.
