City of London IT lags benchmark

The City of London Investment Trust's net asset value per ordinary share rose by 14.5% in the year to the end of June on a total return basis.

This compares with a 17.8% in its benchmark, the AIC UK Equity Income sector, and an 18.1% rise in the FTSE All-Share Index.

Chairman Philip Remnant said: 'I am pleased to report on a satisfactory year in absolute terms, with a net asset value total return of 14.5%.

'We have maintained our dividend track record for the 51st consecutive year with the 5.0% increase well ahead of inflation.'
