GPE sees continued success in sustainability

Great Portland Estates has announced continued success across a number of leading annual sustainability and ESG related indices.

Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark: GPE said it was the number one ranked company in the UK listed sector, scoring 86%, placing it in the top 7% of over 800 global participating portfolios in the GRESB annual sustainability performance index.

It said: 'We were also awarded a five star rating for the second consecutive year and retained our Green star rating for the fourth year running.

'This year we participated in the Health and Wellbeing supplement for the first time, scoring 70%, which placed us in the top three European office sector participants.

'We were also delighted to be awarded Grade A for the quality of our public disclosure.'

European Public Real Estate Association: GPE said it won a Gold Award, for the fourth consecutive year, for reporting in accordance with EPRA's European Sustainability Best Practice Recommendations (sBPR).

It said the EPRA sBPR was intended to raise the standards and consistency of sustainability reporting for listed real estate companies across Europe.

FTSE4Good/Ethibel: GPE said it maintained its status as a constituent member of the 2017 FTSE4Good Index, achieving a score in the top 7% and was also included in the Ethibel Sustainability Index.

Head of sustainability Janine Cole said 'Sustainability is an integral part of our business strategy and we are delighted that we continue to be recognised for our considerable effort in this area.'
