Informa revenues rise

Informa, the international business intelligence, exhibitions, events and academic publishing group, saw continued growth in revenue, profit and earnings in its seasonally stronger first half of the year.

Revenues rose to £915.4m - up 41.3% on a reported basis and 3.7% on an underlying basis.

Statutory operating profits increased to £182.2m from £141.6m and adjusted operating profits of £285.1m were up 41.0% on an reported bais and 1.0% underlying.

The group declared a dividend of 6.7p per share up from 6.3p last time.7

Group chief executive Stephen A. Carter said: "The Informa Group continues to make steady operational and financial progress in the fourth year of our acceleration programme, whilst effectively integrating US-based Penton Information Services ahead of plan."

He added: "Our increased Balance and Breadth, improving operational fitness and the benefits of consistent product investment give us confidence that we will meet our financial and operational targets for 2017, including further growth in revenue, earnings, cashflow and dividends."

Informa also announced the majority acquisition of its German/Swiss domestic conference business Euroforum by leading German media group, Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt GmbH.

It said the transaction continued the strategy of portfolio focus within the Knowledge & Networking Division, following on from a number of other portfolio changes over recent years in Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Portugal, South Africa and Brazil.

It said it left the Division focused on specialist communities in its core end markets of Global Finance, Life Sciences and TMT.
