easyJet update on European AOC

14 July 2017 09:17

easyJet hopes to receive an Austrian air operator certificate and operating licence in the near future which will enable it to set up a new airline with headquarters in Vienna.

easyjet - which applied to Austro Control for an AOC and to Austria's Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology for an airline operating licence earlier this year - said the accreditation process and it hope to receive both in the near future.

It said these would allow it to establish a new airline, easyJet Europe, which would be headquartered in Vienna and would enable easyJet to continue to operate flights both across Europe and domestically within European countries after the UK had left the EU, regardless of the outcome of talks on a future UK-EU aviation agreement.

It said the people and planes that would fly for easyJet Europe were already employed and based in EU27 countries.
