Go-Ahead JV shortlisted for South Eastern franchise

22 June 2017 07:39

Govia - Go-Ahead's joint venture with Keolis - has been shortlisted by the Department for Transport to bid for the South Eastern franchise.

Go-Ahead said Govia would be aiming to retain the franchise that it had operated, as Southeastern, since 2006.

Go-Ahead said that during this time, Southeastern passenger numbers had grown by 40% and some 500 additional weekday services had been added.

It added that in 2009 Southeastern introduced the UK's first domestic high speed service, which significantly reduced journey times to London and supported the economic regeneration of the region.

It said the company also played a key role in the success of the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games' transport plan, carrying 20% more passengers than usual.
