JPMorgan American lags index

23 March 2016 15:57

JPMorgan American Investment Trust lagged its benchmark in the year to the end of December.

In 2015, the US equity market, as measured by the S&P 500 total return Index in sterling terms, provided a return of 6.9%. In local currency terms, the market was more or less flat, and the gain to investors arose largely from the strength of the US dollar compared with sterling.

Chairman Sarah Bates said that over the period, the company's net asset value ('NAV') underperformed the S&P 500 by just over 2%.

Bates added: "The 10 year record (over which period Garrett Fish has been responsible for fund management) remains ahead of the Index and the performance of the NAV of the trust, over the 10 years to 31 December 2015, ranks it in the top 2% of the 270 US large capitalisation 'blend' funds in the relevant Morningstar universe."
