Funding Circle SME buying loans in Continental Europe

14 March 2016 08:21

Funding Circle SME Income Fund will today begin buying small business loans in Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.

The company already buys loans through the Funding Circle marketplaces in the UK and US.

It says the latest move provides further diversification to shareholders across three new geographies and follows Funding Circle's entry into these markets in October.

Chairman Richard Boléat said: "Following Funding Circle's entry into Continental Europe, and becoming a global marketplace lending platform, the Funding Circle SME Income Fund is able to provide shareholders with further geographic and sub-sector diversification. By lending directly to businesses across all five geographies, shareholders are facilitating much needed funding to the real economy."
